Insight: The Importance of Green Travel
Eco
tourism can be luxurious and posh, yet it can also be rugged, stripped
down to nature and the necessities. Either way, traveling eco
consciously can be done to suit your needs, whatever they may be.
Corporate, or individual, eco travel is a good idea for anyone planning
a trip.
Green travel, which is also called eco tourism, or sustainable tourism,
is an effort to inspire travelers to make wiser decisions, and to really
think about the decisions they make in their travels. It can be
amazingly mind-opening to explore the world from this perspective.
Traveling green can really make one look at things differently, and give
a great appreciation for even the smallest luxuries, the smallest
creatures, and the kinds of things that often go unnoticed.
Eco tourism does not mean that you have to forsake comfort, because more
often than not, you can find eco accommodations that stack up to any of
those, basic or lavish, that take less notice of the environment. It
does not mean you have to spend all your vacation camping out in the
wilderness if you don’t want to; it does not mean you have to trek only
by foot in an effort to disregard fuel usage, nor does it mean you
should only eat foods that are grown and harvested locally in the wild,
picked with your own hands. A beautiful part of eco tourism is about
sustaining the local economy, while supporting the native culture, and
intervening as little as possible on their way of life while
experiencing it. You may actually be surprised how many eco resorts
there are, all over the world, in so many typical tourist destinations
that now cater to the eco tourist. Even for the business class traveler,
there are 4 and 5 star accommodations that cater to the intelligent,
environmentally-aware traveler who wishes not to forgo any amenity.
When it comes to traveling these days, like all aspects of our lives it
is really important to approach with an attitude of intelligence. Being
eco friendly is not just a catch phrase, a marketing scheme, or simply
some way to partake in a trend. Sustainability is an important part of
our daily lives because we have to take into account our imprint on the
world around us, especially when we travel. The most awesome thing about
traveling green is that it does not have to be extravagantly expensive,
or really any pricier than ordinary accommodations, to do so. In fact,
by scaling down, and doing things a bit more on the eco friendly side,
you may actually save money by doing things more ecologically.
